Have a Question?

Do You Offer Same-Day Appointments?

Yes! We offer same-day dental appointments to all of our patients in La Homa, Bryan, and Alton. If you need emergency care, give us a call to let us know that you are coming in for a same-day appointment.

Calling us in advance at (956) 583-5050 gives us time to prepare for your visit and ensures that we can treat you as soon as possible when you arrive. However, we also accept walk-in patients. Just come to our office and we’ll do our best to fit you in as soon as we can!

What Are The Most Common Emergency Dental Treatments?

  • Root canal therapy – Root canal therapy is used to treat teeth that are infected. If you have a very deep cavity, the “pulp” inside your tooth will become infected and this can be very painful. This can also happen if an oral injury breaks or cracks your tooth. A root canal is used to remove the infection and restore the structure of your tooth.
  • Fillings – Fillings are typically used to restore decayed teeth with small-to-moderate cavities. They can also be used to restore chipped or slightly damaged teeth, in some cases.
  • Crowns – Dental crowns are used to treat cavities that are too large for treatment with fillings and to repair damaged or broken teeth. Crowns may also be used to protect a tooth that has recently been restored with a root canal.
  • Extractions – We will always try to save your tooth, but if it is damaged beyond repair, an extraction may be the best way to get relief from your pain and prevent further complications.

What Is a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency is any oral health problem that is causing you pain or discomfort that you cannot treat on your own. This includes things like oral injuries (damaged, cracked, loose, or knocked-out teeth) as well as toothaches, advanced gum disease, and more. If you think your condition qualifies as an emergency, don’t wait! Contact us for a same-day appointment right away.

What Should I Do If My Tooth Is Knocked Out?

  • First, recover your tooth. Rinse it gently with warm water, if necessary.
  • Then, put the tooth back into its socket or into a container of cold milk to keep it moist. This will keep the pulp alive until we can splint your tooth.
  • When handling your knocked-out tooth, grab the crown, not the root, to avoid damaging it further.
  • Give Dr. Big Smilez a call and let us know you are coming in. Your missing tooth must be splinted and restored within 1-2 hours in order to save it.
